BIO

Frances Lee, pianist
Born in Singapore, pianist Frances Lee has performed internationally as a soloist, chamber
musician, and orchestral pianist. Recent appearances include collaborating with pianist Brian
Connelly on the Houston-based concert series Context, and an all-Mozart recital on fortepiano.
She has also performed with Loop38 and the Da Camera Young Artists. Ms. Lee graduated
from the Bard College Conservatory of Music with a BMus in Piano and a BA in German
Studies, studying with Peter Serkin and Melvin Chen. In conjunction with her Senior Project in
German Studies, she gave a lecture-recital on Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel’s piano cycle Das Jahr.
She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at The
Shepherd School of Music, Rice University in the studio of Brian Connelly, as a recipient of the
Lillian H. Duncan Prize in Piano, where she previously attained her MMus. Ms. Lee participated
in the Young Artists Program at Yellow Barn in Vermont in 2011, The International Holland
Music Sessions in Bergen, North Holland in 2012, the Sarasota Music Festival in Florida in
2016, and the Young Artist Chamber Music Program at Kneisel Hall in Maine in 2014 and 2016.
In addition to her performing career, she is also a committed teacher for students of all ages.
